UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The #17/18 Penn State Lady Lions (7-2, 0-0 Big Ten) continue their three-game homestand against UMES (2-4) on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the BJC. Sunday is a Subway Full Court 4-Pack, fans get four reserved game tickets, one voucher good for four 6-inch subs at any of seven State College Subway locations, and one voucher good for four soft drinks at the BJC, for just $40. Additionally, the Centre and Blair County Special Olympics basketball teams will be scrimmaging at halftime.

TELEVISION: The game will be tape-delayed as a "Student U" broadcast on the Big Ten Network on Wed., Dec. 12 at noon.
LAST TIME OUT: The Lady Lions held the Hokies scoreless for the final 13 minutes of the game en route to a 66-28 win Tuesday. The 28 points were the fewest scored by the Hokies in program history, surpassing the 33 points scored against Tennessee during the 1995 campaign. Junior Alex Bentley became the 33rd Lady Lion to reach 1,000 career points and the 15th junior to reach the milestone with 11 tallies. Sophomore Maggie Lucas posted a game-high 20 points while also posting a team-best eight rebounds and two assists. Junior Nikki Greene added 14 points, five rebounds and three steals, while Bentley chipped in 11 points, five assists and three steals. Sophomore Talia East had a strong night off the bench with six points and three rebounds.
SCOUTING UMES: The Hawks are 2-4 on the year with wins over American and Delaware State. Chelsea Sanders leads the UMES offense with a 14.8 scoring average to go along with 5.8 rebounds per game. Kwinnyata Mercer accounts for 9.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game and is tied for the team lead with 10 steals. Shanyce Stewart tops the Hawks in rebounding at a 7.3 clip.
ALL-TIME VS. THE HAWKS: This is the first-ever meeting on the hardwood between the Lady Lions and UMES. Penn State is 4-0 all-time against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) opponents with the last win coming against Coppin State (76-61) in the Timeout 4 HIV/AIDS Tournament in Malibu, Calif, on Nov. 29, 2008.
BENTLEY JOINS 1,000-POINT CLUB: With 11 points versus Virginia Tech Dec. 6, junior guard Alex Bentley became the 33rd player in school history with 1,000 points. She is also the 15th junior to reach the milestone and first Lady Lion to accomplish the feat since Tyra Grant reached the 1,000-point plateau in 2008.
STIFLING D: The Lady Lions turned in a stellar defensive performance in a 66-28 win over Virginia Tech Dec. 6. The 28 points were the fewest scored by the Hokies in program history, surpassing the 33 points scored against Tennessee during the 1995 campaign. It is also the fewest points scored by a Penn State opponent since giving up 21 tallies to Rider on Nov. 14, 2010.
GREENE MOVES UP CHARTS: Junior center Nikki Greene moved up a pair of career charts after pulling in five rebounds and blocking a shot against Virginia Tech Dec. 6. Greene now has 527 career rebounds, which moved her past Adrie DeVries (1987-90), who had 526 career caroms, for 26th place on the all-time chart. Greene needs four rebounds to move past Ashli Schwab (530; 2002-05) for 25th place. Additionally, Greene moved into a tie for sixth place on the Penn State career blocks list with her rejection against the Hokies. Her 140 rejections are tied with Tina Henry on the chart. She needs 33 blocks to move into the Top 5 all-time.
LUCAS TO 700: With 20 points against Virginia Tech Dec. 6, sophomore guard Maggie Lucas reached the 700-point mark for her career. It was the 14th 20-point performance of Lucas' career. She now has 718 points in her career.
STELLAR SHOOTING: The Lady Lions shot a sizzling 71.4% (15-21) from the field in the second half in the win over Virginia Tech Dec. 6. It is the first time a Penn State team shot better than 70% in a half since shooting 70.4% against Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament on March 4, 2007. It was also the best shooting effort for the Lady Lions in a half since connecting on 72.7% (16-22) in the first half against Northwestern on Jan. 4, 2007.
The Lady Lions take a break for final exams before returning to the court for their final home non-conference game against Wagner on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. The game is part of a women's-men's doubleheader with the men facing Mount St. Mary's at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 general admission to see both games. Lady Lion Basketball season tickets are available by calling 814-867-2557. Season tickets are $117 for adults, $52 for youth and $91 for seniors. Single game tickets go on sale Tuesday, Oct. 11. PNC Flex Books are available again this year for $99. The Flex Book gives fans 12 vouchers, including one for the Coaches vs. Cancer game and one for the Pink Zone game, that can be redeemed for Nittany Lion and Lady Lion Basketball tickets in any combination.
The 2012 WBCA Pink Zone at Penn State will take place on Sunday, Feb. 26 as the Lady Lions take on Minnesota in the Bryce Jordan Center. Last year, the Lady Lions donated nearly $200,000 for breast cancer causes. This year's fundraising efforts will benefit the Mount Nittany Medical Center, Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, J.C.
