UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 9 Penn State women's gymnastics team hosts No. 5 Alabama, Big Ten foe Michigan State and Cornell in its home opener on Saturday, Jan. 21. Action is set for 7 p.m. in Rec Hall.
Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 1-800-NITTANY or at the door. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for youth and groups. Live scoring and video will be available via a link at GoPSUsports.com.
Saturday's meet is "Flip for the Cure" to raise breast cancer awareness. All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the meet. The first 100 students will receive pink and navy "Flip Zone" t-shirts. Fans can also purchase their own "Flip for the Cure" t-shirts at the meet. Donations will be accepted with all proceeds going directly to the Lady Lions Pink Zone Fund.
The Series: Penn State vs. Alabama
The Nittany Lions trail the Crimson Tide 2-27 in the all-time series. Penn State's last win against Alabama was on March 1 2009 in a tri-meet with Ohio State. Penn State won with a 196.650, while Alabama took second with a 196.625. The Lions and Crimson Tide last met at the 2011 NCAA Regionals where Alabama won with a 197.275 and PSU placed third with a team score of 195.850.
The Series: Penn State vs. Michigan State
Penn State leads the series with the Spartans 25-5. PSU and MSU last met at the 2011 Big Ten Championships. Penn State finished second (196.375), while MSU placed seventh (194.425).
The Series: Penn State vs. Cornell
The Lions are 5-0 all-time versus the Big Red. The squads last met in quad meet on Jan. 23, 2010 at Rec Hall. Penn State won (195.325), while Cornell finished fourth with a 185.750.

The women's gymnastics team heads back on the road for two meets traveling to Minnesota on Jan. 28 and Iowa on Feb. 3.
