Day One Results

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Penn State women's swimming team turned in a solid day one effort at the Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday. Quite remarkably, the 200 medley relay team tied the school record, earning a time of 1:38.59. That ties the mark earned at the Championships last year.

Paige Whitmire, Merritt Krawczyk, Mackenzie Powers and Sam Palser all teamed in the event to earn an NCAA `B' standard time. The same time was captured at last year's Big Ten Championships, as the team of Krawczyk, Powers, Whitmire and Hailey Campbell earned the identical mark.

Erin Thomas, Chelsea Weedman, Kaitlyn Carr and Katie Pulos teamed up in the 800 freestyle relay, earning a `B' standard time of 7:14.06, good for seventh place and 24 team points.

Penn State currently has 54 team points, 18 behind the leader in Wisconsin. Check back to GoPSUsports.com for continued updates throughout the Big Ten Championships.
