Kevin Foley Clinches First eGolf Tour Title

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - Former Penn State standout Kevin Foley captured his first ever eGolf Tour Title, Saturday at the Pine Needles Classic with a 16-under 269 (68-65-69-67) total, awarding him a first-place prize of $29,000.

The 2010 grad ousted tough competition on his battle to the top, winning just one stroke over second-place Bruce McDonald of Zimbabwe. Going into the fourth and final round, Foley sat 12-under-par, trailing the 36 and 54-hole leader Chesson Hadley of Raleigh, N.C. by one stroke. Throughout the final round, the lead shifted 10 times with Foley making his ultimate comeback at the 17th hole where he dropped a birdie to move into a tie for the first place position. The 24-year-old's showing at the 18th hole assured the Somerville, N.J. native the title.

The Pine Needles Classic marked the third of 24 scheduled events for the 2012 edition of the eGolf Tour. This week's event was contested at both Pine Needles Resort in Southern Pines, N.C. and Seven Lakes Country Club in West End, N.C.

Next week, the tour will return to the greater Charlotte, N.C. area for the Irish Creek Classic, which will be held March 21-24 at the Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis, N.C. and Cabarrus Country Club in Concord, N.C.
