UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The 13th-ranked Penn State women's lacrosse team will play its final non-conference road game of the 2012 regular season on Wednesday when it travels to face in-state foe Lehigh (7-6). Opening draw is set for 7 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex in Bethlehem.
On Friday, in their first ever night game at Penn State Lacrosse Field, the Nittany Lions fell to No. 1-ranked Northwestern, 14-7. With the Wildcat defense focusing its main attention on Penn State's top scorers, freshman Haley Ford (White Hall, Md.) and senior Elaine Welch (Bernardsville, N.J.) stepped into the spotlight. Ford netted her first career hat trick while Welch add two goals to lead Penn State (8-4) offensively. Senior goalkeeper Dana Cahill (Towson, Md.) notched 13 saves, including eight in the first half, against 30 Northwestern shots.
Lehigh has won three of its last four games, including its last outing, an 11-8 victory over New Hampshire on April 7 in Bethlehem. The Mountain Hawks have been formidable at home in 2012, claiming five its seven total wins at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Leigh Ann Torcivia (23 goals, 20 assists) and Carli Sukonik (36 goals, 6 assists) headline the Lehigh offense. Torcivia also leads the team in draw controls (34), ground balls (33), and caused turnovers (15). MaryLeah Dinisco, Alex Fitzpatrick, and Allison Fayans have made starts at goalkeeper for Lehigh, with DiNisco logging a team high seven.
Penn State has won all 20 of its prior meetings with the Mountain Hawks, including last season's 12-11 victory in University Park. The Nittany Lions are 66-2 all-time versus Patriot League opponents, claiming wins over Bucknell (19-3) and Lafayette (14-10) earlier this season.

Penn State will look to end a two-game conference losing streak on Sunday, April 15 when it meets ALC rival No. 10 Ohio State (9-3, 1-2 ) in a 12 p.m. contest at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus. The pivotal league match-up will be aired live on the Big Ten Network. The Nittany Lions have taken six straight from the Buckeyes, including the last three regular season games.
