FRENCH LICK, Ind. - In the second round of the Big Ten Championships in French Lick, Ind., the Penn State women's golf team tallied a 24-over-par 312 on Saturday to finish the day in a tie for 10th place. The Nittany Lions have carded a 45-over-par 621 (309-312) through two rounds on the par-72, 6,156-yard Donald Ross Course at the French Lick Resort. Penn State is tied with Wisconsin and is one stroke behind ninth-place Iowa and two strokes back of eighth-place Minnesota.
Freshman Elyse Archambault (St-Jean-sur-Rich, Que.) continued to lead the Nittany Lions, totaling a two-round score of a 6-over-par 150 (74-76). Archambault registered three birdies and finished the day in a tie for 14th place.
Sophomore Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) birdied the par-4 second hole to record an 11-over-par 155 (75-80) for a tie for 31st place. Junior Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) notched a birdie on the par-5 fifth hole and is one stroke behind Vosters with rounds of 80 and 76 in a tie for 34th place.
Freshman Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ont.) has posted matching rounds of 80 for a two-round total of 160. She is tied for 47th place. Junior Jamie Lavin (Deerfield, Ill.) is in 63rd place with a 21-over-par 165 (82-83). Freshman Erin Michel (Mason, Ohio) is one stroke behind Lavin in a tie for 64th place with a 166 (86-80) to round out the Nittany Lion field.
No. 23 Michigan State, the defending Big Ten champion, leads the field with a 14-over-par 590 (298-292). Spartan Lindsey Solberg is in first place with a 1-under-par 143 (73-70) through two rounds.
