Men's Soccer Travels to Maryland for Final Exhibition

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's soccer team will face No. 9 Maryland on the road in College Park, Md., at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the squad's final exhibition contest.

Penn State kicks off the regular season with a three-game homestand against Stetson Aug. 25, Hartford Aug. 27 and Duquesne Aug. 31.

The Nittany Lions are 1-0-1 in preseason action after downing Drexel, 1-0, and earning a scoreless draw with Hartwick. Freshman midfielder Drew Klingenberg (Gibsonia, Pa.) tallied the gamewinner against Drexel, his first collegiate goal. Sophomore keeper Andrew Wolverton(Snellville, Ga.) picked up the shutout with three saves.

Maryland posted a 3-3 draw with No. 3 Creighton Saturday in preseason action in Omaha, Neb. The Terrapins reached their 10th-consecutive Sweet Sixteen appearance a season ago under the guidance of 20-year head coach Sasho Cirovski. Maryland returns eight starters from the 2011 squad.
