UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State women's hockey head coach Josh Brandwene announced that senior Lindsay Reihl (Cheshire, Conn.) and Jenna Welch (Austin, Texas) will be assistant captains for the 2012-13 season. The team voted this past weekend and the duo will aid junior Taylor Gross (Colorado Springs, Colo.) with the captaincy duties.

"The team did an outstanding job in selecting Lindsay and Jenna," Brandwene said. "Both are great mentors and role models who bring experience and a ton of enthusiasm to the rink every day. I look forward to working with them as assistant captains."

Reihl is one of two seniors on the team (Kate Christoffersen; Trumbull, Conn.) and was a three-time team defensive most valuable player for Penn State's club women's hockey team. Welch was one of Gross's teammates at Connecticut and transferred at the end of the 2011-12 campaigned. Welch has two years of eligibility left and scored three goals with four assists in her two years at UConn.
