Penn State Still in First Place on Day Twp of Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Penn State women's golf team continues to lead the field on day two of the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate. The Nittany Lions posted a second round team score of 289, leaving them with a two round total of 580, four over par 72. Penn State improved their team score from day one by two strokes and has a one shot lead over second place Tennessee.

Senior Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) played an outstanding second round, shooting a second round 68, 4 under par-72. After two days, she has carded a 142, two under par, and is tied for third place, moving up 19 spots from her 22nd place finish in round one. Sophomore Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ont.) finished the day with a 71, improving her two-day total to 146, two over par. Elliott is now in a tie for 11th place. Elliott's teammates, juniors Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) and Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) are also tied for 11th place. Vosters shot an even par 72, lowering her score to two over par while Ceresko shot a 75, ending the day also at two over par.

Day three and the final round of the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate will take place on Sunday, Oct. 14 with tee times being based on the results from the first two days, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Live scoring can be followed on www.golfstat.com
