UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Nittany Lion men's golf team will be competing in their last tournament until the spring season at the 28th Annual Georgetown Intercollegiate in Beallsville, Md. Oct. 22-23. The par-71, 7,102-yard course at The Members Club at Four Steams features a difficult layout designed by PGA Tour veteran Nick Price and golf architect Steve Smyers.
The Georgetown Hoyas will host a 12-team field including DePaul, Eastern Michigan, Miami (Ohio), Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State, St. Joseph's, Toledo, West Florida, William & Mary and Xavier.
Penn State will be competing with a young, talented lineup Monday and Tuesday at the Georgetown Intercollegiate. Duo of freshmen Chris Houston (Gilford, N.H.) and Geoff Vartelas (Cromwell, Conn.) will be joined by sophomores Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.) and Xander McDonald-Smith (Rockaway Park, N.Y.). Senior leader Jay Woodward (Bridgeport, W. Va.) will be rounding out the starters for the Nittany Lions.
The first two rounds of 36 holes will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start Monday morning. The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday morning, also starting with tee times at 8 a.m. at the Members Club.
