Men's Hockey to Host Neumann Tuesday Night

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's hockey team (8-11-0) will return to the ice for the third time in five days when it welcomes Neumann University (9-4-2) to the Greenberg Ice Pavilion Tuesday, Jan. 15 for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.

The Nittany Lions will enter the midweek game following a weekend split against the U.S. National Under-18 Team. Both goaltenders shined for Penn State against the U.S., with freshman Matthew Skoff (McKees Rocks, Pa.) turning aside 47 shots in a 5-2 win Friday and sophomore PJ Musico (Orange, Calif.) corralling 41 attempts in a 3-0 loss Saturday.

Winners of five straight games, Neumann will travel to University Park following a two-game sweep over Fredonia State. The Knights outscored the Blue Devils by a 10-2 margin during the weekend, defeating Fredonia, 5-0, Friday and by a 5-2 margin Saturday. Penn State blanked the Blue Devils by a 4-0 score Dec. 11.

For five-game package holders, Tuesday's matchup is part of Package B.

PARKING
Fans attending Tuesday's game will be able to park in Orange Lots C, F and G. Orange Lot H is also available on the east side of University Drive (see map). A courtesy shuttle will be available for fans and media members that will originate from Orange H. Parking is free for all men's hockey games.

SCOUTING NEUMANN
Neumann competes in the ECAC West conference at the NCAA Division III level. The Knights, who are tied for fourth in their league, are on a five-game winning streak and are unbeaten in their past seven contests (5-0-2).

NITTANY LIONS VS. NCAA DIII
Penn State is 2-1-0 against NCAA Division III opponents in 2012-13. The Nittany Lions split their season series with Buffalo State and blanked Fredonia State, 4-0, in their lone matchup.

LAST YEAR VS. THE KNIGHTS
In its final ACHA season, Penn State fell to Neumann, 6-3, as part of the Winter Classic festivities at Citizens Bank Park Jan. 4, 2012. Sophomore Tommy Olczyk and juniors Taylor Holstrom and Justin Kirchhevel scored one goal each, while PJ Musico and Matt Madrazo split time in net.

QUICK TO THE NET
Against UConn Jan. 5, freshman forward Casey Bailey scored the fastest goal in program history when he lit the lamp just 13 seconds into the game.

COMING TOGETHER
Since being placed on the same line against Fredonia State Dec. 11, freshman Casey Bailey (4g, 3a), sophomore Max Gardiner (5a) and junior Taylor Holstrom (3g, 2a) have combined for 17 points to lead the Nittany Lions.

ENDING A STREAK
With Casey Bailey's goal against UConn Jan. 5, the Nittany Lions broke a streak of eight straight NCAA Division I contests of allowing the game's first marker. Penn State last held a 1-0 lead Nov. 10 against Air Force.

POWER PLAY FOR THE WIN
Penn State holds a 6-1-0 record when it scores a power-play goal.

PENALTY KILL
Penn State has given its opposition at least two power-play opportunities in each game this season. After surrendering five goals in 19 chances to open the season, the Penn State penalty kill has gone 59-for-68 (.868) during the last 13 games.

LOOKING AHEAD
Penn State will travel to the Wells Fargo Center - home of the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers - to play in the Philadelphia College Hockey Faceoff against Vermont Jan. 19.
