No. 49 Women's Tennis Opens Home Schedule Against Temple

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 49 Nittany Lions will face Temple in their home-opener on Saturday. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. in Sarni Tennis Center.

Penn State (2-0, 0-0) looks to build off of their season-opening pair of wins at Akron when Temple comes to town. In both matches the Nittany Lions won the doubles point and took four of the six singles matches.

The Owls come into town having played three matches thus far. The three matches came in the VCU 4 + 1 Invite where the Owls were topped by Campbell and No. 46 VCU in their first two matches respectively. Temple bounced back and comes to Penn State having won their last match 5-0 over Morgan State.

Junior Alicia Doms leads Temple into University Park with a 6-2 singles record, with four of those victories coming in the fall.

In the fall season, Petra Januskova and Chelsea Utting faced Temple's Alicia Doms and Jordan Batey in doubles competition at the ITA Atlantic Regional Tournament where they were victorious winning 8-0.

Sarah Henderson faced Temple's Jordan Batey in singles competition at the Atlantic Regionals also, losing 6-1, 6-2.

There will be free pizza for fans in attendance at the match tomorrow. Start your weekend off right and bring your appetite and cheer on the undefeated Nittany Lions in the home-opener.

Following this weekend's bout with Temple, the Nittany Lions will head back out on the road where they will travel to Lexington, Kentucky to face the Wildcats. The match is set for 10 a.m. on February 3.
