UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State foilist Jeremy Goldstein(Westport, Conn.) has been named a CollegeFencing360.com Primetime Performer of the Week for the period of Jan. 21-27, the website announced Wednesday. The junior had a record of 12-3 against some of the nation's toughest competition this past weekend at the St. John's Invitational.
Goldstein's performance helped the men's foil team to be the only Penn State squad that was unbeaten at St. John's. He also helped to offset the absence of standouts Miles Chamley-Watson and David Willette, who were members of the U.S. men's foil national team that placed first at the Paris World Cup last weekend.
Goldstein was one of ten fencers nationwide to receive the Primetime Performer designation, which seeks to recognize achievement based primarily on situational factors, and not solely on raw statistics.
