LION CAREER:
2012-13: Chamley-Watson entered into his final season as a Nittany Lion after coming home from the London Olympics, in which he was a competitor on the U.S. Men[apos]s Foil team. He made his fourth appearance of his career in the medal round of the NCAA Championships, in which he placed third. This earned him the fourth All-American status of his career. The senior placed first in the men[apos]s foil competition at Regionals, and finished the regular season with a terrific 18-1 record. He went undefeated against NYU, Harvard, UNC, Columbia, Duke, and Notre Dame.
2011-12: Chamley-Watson took the collegiate season off to pursue a spot on the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team. It paid off as he qualified for the third spot on the U.S. Men[apos]s Foil Team. Chamley-Watson was the 2011 Pan American Team Champion. He also achieved: 9th place in the individual competition at the 2011 Senior Grand Prix in St. Petersburg, Russia; 10th place in the individual competition in the 2011 Senior Grand Prix in Seoul, Korea. He has obtained the highest ranking in his weapon ever for any American. He was number one in the world for one competition, and maintained the number 2 world ranking for multiple months.
2010-11: For the third consecutive year, Chamley-Watson fenced his way to All-American honors. The Junior was the runner up at the NCAA Championships this year and finished the regular season 14-7. Chamley-Watson placed 2nd in the individual competition and won a team gold in the 2010 Pan American Championships.He also achieved the following: Individual silver medalist at the 2010 Senior World Cup in Isla de Margarita, Venezuela; Individual bronze medalist in the 2010 Senior Grand Prix in St. Petersburg, Russia; 8th place in the individual competition at the 2010 Senior World Cup in Shanghai, China.
2009-10: For the second year in a row, Chamley-Watson fenced his way to the NCAA Championship semi-finals. Tying for third, Chamley-Watson earned himself his second All American title. Chamley-Watson was a member of the Senior World Championship team as well as the Pan American Team where he won a bronze medal and anchored the team to a gold medal. He also achieved the following: Individual Bronze Medalist in the 2009 Senior World Cup in Estado Vargas, Venezuela; Individual Silver Medalist in the 2009 Junior World Cup in Madrid, Spain; Individual Silver Medalist in the 2009 Junior World Cup in Montreal, Canada; Placed 8th in individual competition at the 2009 Junior World Cup in London, England; Placed 10th in the individual competition and was a member of the silver medal winning team in the 2009 Junior World Championships in Belfast, Ireland.
2008-09: Chamley-Watson had an auspicious Penn State debut, blazing through the regular season with a 24-2 mark in the foil before winning the Mid-Atlantic/South Regional crown. Chamley-Watson then turned that strong performance into a third-place finish at nationals, becoming a freshman All-American for the Nittany Lions. Chamley-Watson was also a member of the Junior World Championship team that was the first team to ever win a gold medal. He was also a member of the Senior World Championship team, as well as the Pan American Team where he won a bronze medal and anchored the team event to a gold medal.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL:
The London native fenced for head coach Simon Gershon at the Fencers Club. He played soccer in 9th and 10th grade and was a Tri-County Champion. He was crowned a Junior Olympic Champion, the Under 20 World Champion, and a National Champion. He was also part of the Senior World Championship team, and 2008 Pan American Championship Team. He plans on majoring in business and finance.
