HOUSTON, TX. - The Nittany Lion golf squad fell to the Michigan State Spartans Saturday 2.5 to 1 on the Jackrabbit Course at the Champions Golf Club in Houston, TX.

Freshman JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) won the first single match of the day, defeating Michigan State's Jon Finley 3 and 1 to win a half point for Penn State. The pair of freshman Geoff Vartelas (Cromwell, Conn.) and sophomore Xander McDonald-Smith (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) split their Four Ball match against Dave Ellis and Gareth Blease to earn the Nittany Lions another half a point.

Sophomore Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.) and senior Anthony DeGol (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) lost a tough match after being down just one after 18 holes to Spartans Mitch Rutledge and Matthew Moseley.

The pair of senior Jay Woodward (Bridgeport, W. Va.) and freshman Chris Houston (Gilford, N.H.) dropped their match to Michigan State's Carson Castellani and Dan Ellis, 5 and 3.

The Penn State men's golf team will continue their spring campaign when they travel to Bluffton, S.C. for the Colleton River Collegiate March 6-7.
