Men's Golf Finishes 14th at Linger Longer Invitational

The Linger Longer Invitational was cut to just 36 holes Sunday due to inclement weather. Penn State finished the tournament with a team score of 624 (311-313), placing 14th overall.

Senior Anthony DeGol (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) and sophomore Xander McDonald-Smith (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) finished tied for 64th, both shooting a 155 through two rounds. Sophomore Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.) and freshman Chris Houston (Gilford, N.H.) also paired in the individual standings, tying for 67th. Talbert marked an 84 and 73 in rounds one and two, while Houston posted a 76 and an 81, respectively.

The final player on the Nittany Lion roster this weekend was senior Jay Woodward (Bridgeport, W. Va.), who placed 80th, shooting a 167 after 36 holes of play.

Alabama captured the team title at the Linger Longer Invitational for the third straight year, tallying an impressive 16-under par 560 on the Great Waters Course at Reynolds Plantation. The Crimson Tide also claimed the individual first place crown with Cory Whitsett's 7-under par total score of 137.

Penn State will continue their spring campaign at the Hawkeye Taylor Made Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa April 13-14, before they end the regular season with their own Rutherford Intercollegiate April 20-21 in University Park, Pa.
