UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's lacrosse senior midfielder Nick Dolik (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) was named a Scholar All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) on Wednesday morning. Dolik is the seventh Nittany Lion to achieve the recognition and the second under head coach Jeff Tambroni.
Dolik, who was a Senior CLASS Award nominee, was Penn State's fifth leading scorer with 10 goals, five assists and 15 points. During his four year career at Penn State, Dolik appeared in 59 games, scoring 60 goals and 77 points. Additionally, Dolik picked up 54 ground balls and caused six turnovers.
Last year, Matthew Mackrides was Penn State's lone representative on the Scholar All-America list. He was the first PSU honoree since his brother, Andrew, was named to the squad in 2008. Within the Colonial Athletic Association, Dolik is one of just three honorees on the list, which includes Drexel's Robert Church and Jacob Smith of Massachusetts.
Dolik is one of 92 honorees this season across all three divisions of NCAA men's lacrosse. This is the 25th edition of the USILA Scholar All-America program, which started in 1989.
The USILA Scholar All-America program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens for their communities. The USILA Selection Committee tabs an overall team representing Divisions I, II and III. The Scholar All-Americans will be recognized at the annual lacrosse All-America Banquet this weekend in Philadelphia. The USILA All-American Division I team will be announced tomorrow.
