Women's Soccer Preseason Update

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 4 Penn State women's soccer team held its seventh day of preseason training for the 2013 campaign on Wednesday at the PSU soccer practice facilities. The Nittany Lions are set to host Navy on Friday at 7:00 p.m. in an exhibition game.

The 2012 NCAA College Cup finalists and 15-time defending Big Ten champions will open the regular season at home on Friday, August 23 at 7:30 p.m. against non-conference rival West Virginia as a part of the Penn State Invitational. The Lions will also face Hofstra on Sunday, August 25 in the four-team tournament.

PSU returns 8-of-11 starters from last year's squad, including MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist Maya Hayes (West Orange, N.J.), Big Ten Defender of the Year Whitney Church (Ashburn, Va.), Big Ten Freshman of the Year Raquel Rodriguez (San Jose, Costa Rica), Bri Hovington (Lothian, Md.), Taylor Schram (Canonsburg, Pa.), Emily Hurd (Sammamish, Wash.), Kori Chapic (Novelty, Ohio) and Mallory Weber (Novi, Mich.).
