UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State men's soccer team makes its first trip to West Virginia in 24 years on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. match with the Mountaineers. The Nittany Lions look for their first positive result on the road and to continue a three-game unbeaten streak.

ABOUT THE MOUNTAINEERS
West Virginia (3-3-1) has dropped its past two games to Michigan (1-2) and No. 12 St. John's (0-1) following a 3-1-1 start. The Mountaineers have faced two programs ranked in the top 15 in the nation at the time of the match. WVU defeated No. 8 Indiana by a final of 5-4 in a match that went into double overtime. The Mountaineers fell to No. 12 St. John's in their other match against a ranked opponent.
West Virginia's Andy Bevin and Majed Osman have combined to supply most of the Mountaineers' offense this season. Both players come into the match with four goals and three assists on the season. The two have combined to score over half of WVU's goals in 2013.

WADID DOES IT AGAIN
A second-half goal from Mark Wadid propelled Penn State past Duquesne, 1-0, on Sunday, Sept. 22 at Jeffrey Field. Eli Dennis dished his second assist of the season on a through ball to the running Wadid as the freshman phenom coolly finished the shot. Andrew Wolverton made two saves for his fourth shutout of the season and move up to fifth all-time at Penn State in the category with 19 clean sheets.
WADID PICKS UP PAIR OF HONORS
For his two finishes and a perfect team record, Mark Wadid was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week. Additionally, he was tabbed on the College Soccer News' National Team of the Week.
LIONS SHUT DOWN RMU
Penn State controlled the pace of play and most of the possession throughout Tuesday night's match (Sept. 17), a 1-0 victory over Robert Morris, at Jeffrey Field. Mark Wadid scored his second goal of the year in the 34th minute for the game-winner.
Penn State's early pressure paid off when Mason Klerks played a great through ball from the midfield to Wadid, who shielded his defender well at the top of the penalty area. Wadid took a touch to the right and blasted a shot past a diving Joseph Kuta (two saves) for a 1-0 lead.
Penn State held a decisive 17-6 edge in shots with a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. Fouls were 15-12 to Penn State. Andrew Wolverton made two saves to record his 18th career shutout.
STINGY HOME DEFENSE
Junior goalkeeper Andrew Wolverton has allowed just one goal in 470 minutes of action this season, collecting 14 saves through the first five home games. Overall, Wolverton is riding a shutout streak of 237 minutes, 37 seconds entering Wednesday's match at WVU. The netminder has made a career on clean sheets, posting 19 shutouts in 35 career starts (54%). Wolverton set the Penn State single-season record for shutouts as a freshman (12), and is currently tied for fifth on the PSU career shutout list.

Penn State holds a hefty 194-39-21 all-time record against the current Division I teams in Pennsylvania. Penn State has the most all-time wins against Bucknell (59) and has unblemished marks against five other squads (Duquesne, La Salle, Robert Morris, Saint Francis and Saint Joseph's).
