Penn State looks to build off its shutout victory over Kent State as it heads into the Big Ten opener at Indiana.The Nittany Lions and Hoosiers are coming off of a bye week. Penn State is 3-1, including a 34-0 win over Kent State on Sept. 21 for its first shutout victory since 2010. Indiana is 2-2, coming off of a 45-28 loss to Missouri on Sept. 21.

The Nittany Lions are unbeaten in 16 meetings with Hoosiers, first meeting in 1993 in Penn State's inaugural year in the Big Ten Conference. The last three games in Bloomington have been decided by six points or less: 22-18 (2004), 36-31 (2007) and 16-10 (2011). Penn State won, 45-22, last November in Beaver Stadium.

This will be the fourth straight season and 13th time in 21 years of Big Ten competition that Penn State will begin conference play on the road.

In the win over Kent State, the Nittany Lions ran for 287 yards, their highest total since gaining 338 yards at Illinois in 2009. Akeel Lynch ran for a season-high 123 yards, Bill Belton had 90 rushing yards and caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Christian Hackenberg and Zach Zwinak gained 65 yards and scored three rushing touchdowns for the second consecutive game. Zwinak leads the BIg Ten in scoring at 12.0 ppg.

Hackenberg, a true freshman, is 79 of 127 (62.2) for 1,027 yards, with five touchdowns and four interceptions.

Indiana's offense is paced by quarterback Nate Sudfeld's 1,146 passing yards. Wideouts Cody Latimer (346 yds) and Shane Wynn (275 yds) lead a receiving corps that has hauled in 14 touchdown passes in four games.

Penn State enters the game ranked second in the Big Ten in scoring defense (14.5 ppg), while Indiana is second in the conference in scoring offense (44.5 ppg). The Nittany Lions are fourth in the Big Ten in total defense (285.0 ypg) and the Hoosiers lead the conference at 547.2 ypg.
