UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; October 15, 2013 - Penn State Football will be prominently featured during an hour of programming on Wednesday, Oct. 16, including highlights from the Nittany Lions' pulsating four overtime win over Michigan and other activities during Homecoming weekend.
On Wednesday at 7 p.m., BTN's award-winning The Journey will air with a feature story on senior guard John Urschel (Williamsville, N.Y.) and field level highlights from Penn State's 43-40 win. Urschel, a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-American and All-Big Ten guard, has a 4.0 grade-point average and is teaching a Penn State undergraduate class for the second consecutive semester. This semester Urschel is teaching Math 232, Integral Vector Calculus, while working on his second master's degree.
The 30-minute program also airs Wednesday at 9:30 p.m., followed by a 60-minute version of the Penn State-Michigan telecast.
On Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., an ESPN Road Trip episode from Penn State will debut on ESPNU. Hosts Niki Noto and Ali Nejad spoke with Nittany Lions Christian Hackenberg, Jordan Lucas and Allen Robinson on campus, toured the new Pegula Ice Arena prior to last Friday's opening game and played trash-can football with students at Nittanyville.
ESPN Road Trip also includes field level highlights from Penn State's comeback win over Michigan, the longest game in the 118-year history of the Big Ten Conference.
Coach Bill O'Brien's Nittany Lions won their fourth consecutive contest against the Wolverines in front of a raucous all-stadium White Out crowd of 107,884. The Penn State-Michigan clash is the longest game between two Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) teams this season. Penn State's previous longest game was its three overtime win over Florida State in the 2006 FedEx Orange Bowl.
Penn State (4-2, 1-1) is idle this week and returns to action Oct. 26 at No. 4 Ohio State. The game will kick at 8 p.m., be an ABC national telecast and also air on the Penn State Sports Network and www.GoPSUsports.com.
Tickets are available for the Nittany Lions' final three home games against Illinois (Nov. 2), Purdue (Nov. 16) and Nebraska (Nov. 23, Senior Day).
