UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's cross country team secured a fourth-place finish at the Penn State National Friday morning. Freshman Julie Kocjancic (Pittsburgh, Pa.) led the Penn State contingent, crossing the finish line in 22:21 for an 18th-place finish.
Junior Lauren Mills (West Chester, Pa.) placed 21st overall, finishing in 22:30. Senior Gabrielle Cocco (Allentown, Pa.) and freshman Cara Ulizio (Redondo Beach, Calif.) finished in a tie for 25th, both crossing the finish line at 22:34. Senior Danielle Kocjancic (Kane, Pa./22:41) rounded out Penn State's scoring five.
Penn State finished in fourth place with 106 points. West Virginia secured first place with 28 points.
Only two Nittany Lions competed on the men's side, with freshman Za'von Watkins (Liverpool, N.Y.) finishing 30th overall with a time of 28:11, and classmate Thomas Damiani (Tunkhannock, Pa.) crossing the finish line in 29:03 for a 43rd-place finish.
