Kohan, Young, Labna Win on Day Two at UVa Fall Classic

UVA Day Two Draws

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's tennis team concluded the second day at the UVa Fall Classic. David Kohan and Chris Young reached the White Doubles Draw final and Ramy Labna knocked off the No. 1 seed in the Green Singles Draw. The Nittany Lions now have four singles wins and two doubles wins at the classic.

Kohan (Sydney, Australia) and Young (Melbourne, Australia) entered the day in the semifinal of their draw after winning their first round match on Friday. The duo took on George Mason's Conor Moran and Aaron Capitel in the semifinal and claimed an 8-5 victory. In the final, they met College of Charleston's Stephen Hardy and Josh Record. Kohan and Young were not able to continue their momentum, falling 8-5.

Nika Dolidze (Tbilisi, Georgia) and Labna (Doha, Qatar) combined in the consolation semifinal in the Gold Doubles Draw. They competed against Coastal Carolina's Roman Samed and Rick Timmerman, but dropped an 8-5 match. They moved onto the consolation third place match against James Madison's Maxi Branth and Niels Kathal. Dolidze and Labna had another tough battle, but fell 8-7(6).

After going 1-1 on Friday, Labna moved onto the 5th place bracket, where he faced Norfolk State's Igor Braga in the 5th place semifinal. Braga entered the Green Singles Draw as the top seed. Labna came out strong with a 6-2 win in the first set. A tough second set ended with Labna was the winner, 7-6(7-4). Labna will matchup against Binghamton's Elliott Hureau in the 5th place match on Sunday.

Dolidze competed in the Orange Singles Draw consolation semifinal against College of Charleston's Cresente Lesser. The first set went to Lesser 6-4, but Dolidze responded with a 6-4 win of his own. In a deciding third set, Lesser won 10-5. Dolidze enters a consolation third place match on Sunday against Longwood's Edward Becker.

The senior, Young, also played in a consolation semifinal on Saturday. In a Red Singles Draw match, Young fell 6-4, 6-2 to Coastal Carolina's Leo Christofedes. On Sunday, Young will also compete in a consolation third place match, taking on College of Charleston's Garrett Gordon.

Kohan matched up against George Mason's Chris Borden in a White Singles Draw consolation match. Borden won a close first set, 7-5 and was leading 3-1 in the second set when Kohan retired.
