UVA Day Three Draws

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Penn State men's tennis team finished up at the UVa Fall Classic on Sunday. Freshman Nika Dolidze earned consolation third place in the Orange Singles Draw. Penn State totaled five singles and two doubles wins on the weekend.

After a 1-2 start to the weekend, Dolidze (Tbilisi, Georgia) finished the tournament with a win. Taking on Longwood's Edward Becker in the Orange Singles Draw consolation third place match, Dolidze won the first set 6-1. Dolidze then completed a straight set victory with a 7-5 second set. Dolidze is now 5-2 this fall.

Chris Young (Melbourne, Australia) also played in a consolation third place match, his in the Red Singles Draw. Young matched up against College of Charleston's Garrett Gordon. Young had a tough battle in both sets, but fell 7-6, 7-6. Young picked up a win earlier in the weekend against James Madison's Niels Kathal.

Ramy Labna (Doha, Qatar) entered the fifth place match in the Green Singles Draw with a 2-2 record. Labna earned a matchup with Binghamton's Elliott Hureau, the No. 3 seed in the draw. Labna started out strong with a tough 7-6(4) win in the first set, but Hureau responded with a 6-4 win in the second set. Hureau continued his momentum in the tiebreaker set, winning 10-3. Earlier in the tournament, Labna knocked off the No. 1 seed in the draw, Norfolk State's Igor Braga.

David Kohan (Sydney, Australia) and Young combined in the White Doubles Draw to go 2-1 this weekend and advance to the draw final with wins against teams from Radford and George Mason.

Penn State heads to the Wake Forest Invite next weekend.
