Nittany Lions Bring In Two Silver Medals As NAC Continues

CLEVELAND, Oh. - As day one and two of the North American Cup conclude, two Penn State fencers took home silver medals in two events.

Day one of the North American Cup included the events of Junior Men's Epee, and Division 1 Women's Foil where Penn State fencers competed.

In the Junior Men's Epee competition, freshmen Conor Shepard and Spencer Amann both finished in the top 50. Lars Swanson finished at 172.

In the Division 1 Women's Foil event, sophomore Clarisse Luminet finished 18th out of 127 fencers. Junior Alina Antonkhina, freshman Daniella Ortiz and freshman Desree Ortega-Furgeson finished in the top 65 of the event.

Day two was a much more successful day for the Nittany Lions. The events that took place during day two were Division 1 Women's Epee, Junior Men's Foil, and Division 1 Men's Saber.

Senior Margherita Guzzi-Vincenti took home one of the two silver medals today. Guzzi-Vincenti took 2nd in Division 1 Women's Epee out of 170 fencers. Sophomore Jessica O'Neil-Lyublinsky finished the event 20th and freshman Jessie Radanovich finished 56th.

Sophomore Nobuo Bravo took home the other silver medal of the day in Junior Men's Foil placing 2nd out of 174 fencers. Freshman Howie Chan also had an impressive competition and placed 7th in the event.

The last event of day two of competition was the Division 1 Men's Saber. Freshman Adam Lewicki finished 7th in the event. Junior Alex Schneller, freshman Vincent Argenzio, and junior Pawel Puchalski all finished in the top 60. Junior Sean Moran tied for 66th place and freshman David Akrami tied for 122. Junior Gaspar Leznik finished 143rd for the day.

Day three of the North American Cup continues on today and the competition concludes on Monday, November 11th. Results for the second half of the North American Cup will be posted here on gopsusports.com on Monday.
