Pair of Lions to Attend NCAA Leadership Forum

Nov. 6, 2013

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Men's track & field senior Bernard Bennett-Green (Elkins Park, Pa.) and softball junior Meghan Bradley (Santa Monica, Calif.) will represent Penn State at the 2013 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum, to be held Nov. 7-10 in Providence, R.I. The annual, four-day event will welcome more than 350 student-athletes.

The Leadership Forum, which was designed for student-athletes to discuss key issues collectively, is one of the largest non-competitive gatherings of NCAA student-athletes. The forum provides student-athletes with an opportunity to enhance personal awareness and leadership skills needed to positively impact their development at the campus and conference levels, as well as beyond the collegiate realm.

A standout on the track squad, Bennett-Green earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Second Team All-America honors in 2013 as a member of the Nittany Lions' 4x400 relay squad. In addition, the Elkins Park, Pa., native was a member of the third-place 4x400 relay team at the Big Ten Indoor Championships and helped the group earn top honors in the Penn Relays' IC4A section.

A Santa Monica, Calif., native, Bradley has appeared in 15 games during her Nittany Lion career. The junior has been utilized primarily as a pinch runner during her time with the Blue and White and scored three runs, including one in her first collegiate game, during her freshman season.

Throughout the Leadership Forum, representatives from NCAA member schools will lead small group discussions about a variety of topics, including behavioral styles, branding, social media, decision making, emotional intelligence and values. The goal of the forum is to help the student-athletes become more effective leaders and motivators when they return to their campuses.
