Women's Soccer Releases 2014 Spring Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's soccer team has announced its schedule for the 2014 spring season. The schedule features five games against regional opponents, including one match against NWSL (National Women's Soccer League) member Sky Blue FC. Additionally, at least four of the contest will be played at home.

PSU opens the spring slate at home vs. Pitt on Saturday, March 1. The Lions will take on the Panthers at 3 p.m. in Holuba Hall.

The Blue and White face former Penn State standout and recent Sky Blue FC addition Maya Hayes in the second game of the spring campaign on Sunday, March 23 at a location to be determined. Hayes, a three-time NSCAA All-American for PSU, was chosen by Sky Blue FC as the No. 6 overall pick in the 2014 draft two weeks ago and will begin training with the squad in early March.

The Lions make their return to Jeffrey Field on Saturday, March 29 to face the Villanova Wildcats in a 3 p.m. match-up. They will also host St. John's at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 and close out the spring schedule at home with a match vs. Saint Francis (PA) on Wednesday, April 9 at a time to be determined.

Penn State closed out the 2013 campaign with its 19th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and advanced to the second round for the 16th time in program history. The Nittany Lions defeated regional foe Monmouth, 3-0, in the opening round for their 15th victory of the season.
