UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Fresh off a season-opening victory against Bucknell, the No. 8/7 Penn State women's lacrosse team will welcome No. 3/2 Maryland to the Penn State Lacrosse Field Saturday, Feb. 22. Opening draw between the Nittany Lions (1-0, 0-0 ALC) and Terrapins (3-0, 0-0 ACC) is set for 3 p.m.

LIMITED BAG POLICY
Penn State has implemented a limited bag policy at all home athletic events this season. One clear plastic one-gallon plastic bag per person will be permitted for medical needs, child care needs and general items as needed. Items that can fit in a pocket should remain in patrons' pockets (i.e. keys, cell phone, wallet, glasses, camera, sunscreen, lip balm, make-up). General items of this nature, including those that don't fit in patrons' pocket, can also be placed in a clear plastic one-gallon plastic bag.

QUICK HIT
Penn State, which will search for its first 2-0 start since 2010, will also look to win its home opener for the third straight year.

ALL-TIME VS. MARYLAND
Penn State is 14-35-1 all-time against its future Big Ten rival with its last win coming during the 2005 season. The Nittany Lions have lost the last eight matchups in the series.

LAST YEAR VS. THE TERRAPINS
Despite a team-high four goals from attacker Maggie McCormick, the Nittany Lions fell to top-ranked Maryland, 20-10, at College Park, Md., March 9, 2013. After falling behind by a 5-0 score, the Nittany Lions fought back to make it a 13-8 game in the second half before the Terrapins ended the game on a 7-2 run. Attackers Molly Fernandez (2g, 1a) and Mackenzie Cyr (1g, 1a) added multi-point games for the Nittany Lions.

Final Stats (PSU-MD): Shots (29-27), Saves (4-14), Ground Balls (14-19), Draw Controls (19-12), Caused Turnovers (10-15).

DOHERTY VS. MARYLAND
Head coach Missy Doherty will look for her first victory against her alma mater as a head coach. Doherty is currently 0-6 (0-3 at Penn State) against the Terrapins.

A 1997 graduate, Doherty helped Maryland win three straight NCAA championships from 1995-97.

Junior midfielder Tatum Coffey matched her career high in points (6) and sophomore Jenna Mosketti set personal bests in goals (4) and draw controls (6) in a 21-9 victory against Bucknell Feb. 19.
