Penn State Set for Briar's Creek Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State women's golf team heads to Johns Island, South Carolina for the Briar's Creek Invitational. The two-day tournament is being hosted at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek, which is a par-72 course. The first round begins on Monday with 36 holes of continuous play starting at 8:45 a.m. The third and final round concludes on Tuesday with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.

The 17-team field is headlined by a number of nationally ranked teams. Three teams are ranked in the Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches Division I Poll while five teams are ranked in the GolfStat.com Women's Rankings. #10/11 Clemson, #30 South Florida, #34/38 GRU Augusta, #40 Kansas and Big Ten constituents #46 Wisconsin and #48 Illinois highlight the field. The rest of the field includes: College of Charleston, Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Indiana, Maryland, Princeton, and Texas Tech.

Last year at the Briar's Creek, Penn State finished 17th . Last weekend, Penn State finished 10th at the SunTrust Gator Invitational. Looking ahead, the Nittany Lions have a quick turnaround as they stay in the Carolina's for the Bryan Park Invitational in Brown's Summit, North Carolina. The weekend tournament is from March 28-30.
