UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's soccer assistant coach Bo Oshoniyi resigned Thursday as he was named East Tennessee State head coach. Oshoniyi is the third assistant coach under Penn State head coach Bob Warming to accept a head coaching job in the past three seasons.
"ETSU is getting a great person," Warming said. "The players are going to love him and work hard for him because Bo will demonstrate how hard he works every day for them and how much he will care about them as players and people. It's been a great joy in my coaching life to provide a little mentorship to guys who have gone on to head coaching jobs. I wish Bo and his beautiful family great success."

During his past three seasons as PSU's lead recruiting coordinator and goalkeeper coach, Oshoniyi has assisted the Nittany Lions to two consecutive Big Ten titles and a Sweet 16 appearance in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. Under his tutelage, Andrew Wolverton (Atlanta, Ga.) has become one of college soccer's premier netminders as evidenced by his Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year Award and a spot on the All-NSCAA Great Lakes First Team in 2013.
In the past two seasons with Oshoniyi on Warming's staff, the Nittany Lions went 22-11-4 and 8-2-2 in Big Ten play. This past season, Penn State's defense was among the best in the country with a 0.81 GAA in 21 matches. PSU allowed more than a goal on just two occasions in all of 2013.
Prior to Oshoniyi's departure to ETSU, a program started in 2008 by Scott Calabrese who took the FIU job in January, Jason Mims launched the Nebraska-Omaha program in 2011 and Isang Jacob departed Happy Valley to lead IUPUI.
Last season, ETSU went 10-6-4 and won its second Atlantic Sun title and a berth to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in its six-year existence.
