UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State women's golf team look to carry over the momentum from the Briar's Creek Invitational into the Bryan National Collegiate. The three-day layoff is the shortest turnaround the Nittany Lions face this season. The Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center (Champions Course) is hosting the tournament as both UNC Greensboro and Wake Forest are cohosting the event. The three-day tournament begins on Friday, March 28 with tee times beginning at 8:20 a.m. The tournament culminates on Sunday, March 30 with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
The field includes 18 teams and six individuals vying to leave a champion. There are eight teams ranked in the Golfstat Top 25 rankings including: No. 3 Duke, No. 8 South Carolina, No. 13 Clemson, No. 17 Northwestern, No. 18 Florida, No. 19 Wake Forest, No. 22 Michigan State, and No. 23 North Carolina State. The rest of the field includes: College of Charleston, Florida State, Louisville, North Carolina, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, Tennessee, defending champion Virginia, and Big Ten foe Ohio State.
There will be live scoring for all three days on Golfstat at www.golfstat.com. Penn State participated in the Bryan National Collegiate five times, with the last time coming in 2008 as the Nittany Lions finished 18th. To recap, Penn State finished in second at the Briar's Creek Invitational and senior Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) won her first career individual championship.
Looking ahead, the Nittany Lions will have almost a month off before beginning the Big Ten Championship in French Lick, Ind. from April 25-27.
