UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Nittany Lions got off to a strong start as the Sun Angel Classic kicked-off Friday with the hammer throw.
Redshirt-senior Will Barr (Urbana, Ohio) threw a season best 201-3 on Friday. On the women's side, senior Melissa Kurzdorfer (Lancaster, N.Y.) threw a 198-3 and sophomore Rachel Fatherly's (Williamsport, Pa.) best measured at 178-7. Both were season bests.
Action in Tempe wraps-up Saturday with the balance of the Penn State squad competing against the likes of host Arizona State, Boise State, Cal State East Bay, DePaul, Northern Arizona, Minnesota (Men), Texas A&M, UC Davis, UC Riverside, and UC San Diego.
The Nittany Lion squad is split this weekend, with several student-athletes also competing at the Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13.
