UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - After helping the No. 12 Penn State men's volleyball team (22-6, 13-1) to a pair of victories in the final two regular season matches of the year, redshirt junior Nick Goodell has earned EIVA Offensive Player of the Week honors, as announced by the EIVA Monday evening.
The award is the third time Goodell has earned weekly conference recognition this season and also marks his second Offensive Player of the Week honor. In the 2-0 week, he totaled team-high 25 kills on .370 hitting.
Goodell opened the weekend with a team-high 14 kills on .524 hitting at Rutgers-Newark, adding two aces, two digs and two blocks. He returned to the court the next night to guide the Nittany Lions to their eighth consecutive victory at NJIT. He fueled the offense with another double-digit kill performance, tallying 11 kills to go along with five digs and one ace.
Goodell and the rest of the Penn State men's volleyball team are set to host their 17th consecutive EIVA Championship this weekend at home in Rec Hall. The top-seeded Nittany Lions square off against fourth-seeded George Mason in the EIVA Semifinals Thursday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m. No. 2 seed Harvard and No. 3 seed Princeton will open the tournament with a 5 p.m. matchup. The winners of each semifinal match will play for the title in the EIVA Finals Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m. in Rec Hall.
Tickets are priced at $8 for adults and $5 for youth ages 12 and younger. Group tickets are available at a discounted rate of $4 for groups of 15 or more with an advance sale. Admission is free of charge to any student with a valid student ID. Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-800-NITTANY or at the door on gameday.
