Penn State Continues Success at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa., April 25, 2014 - Penn State track and field found success in the second day of Penn Relays posting outstanding results across the board.

Byron Robinson (Chesapeake, Va.) started Friday's competition by notching a third-place finish in the Championship of America 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.70. Darrell Hill (Philadelphia, Pa.) continued Penn State's success by tossing a lifetime best 63-11.75 in the Championship of America shot put grabbing a first place title for the Blue and White.

The men's sprint medley group, consisting of Alex Kenney (State College, Pa.), Bernard Bennett-Green (Elkins Park, Pa.), Byron Robinson and Brannon Kidder (Lancaster, Ohio), recorded a runner-up standing in the Championship of America with a finish of 3:18.39. Mahagony Jones (Cleveland, Ohio), Dynasty McGee (Flint, Mich.), Kiah Seymour (Washington D.C.), and Marta Klebe (Chesterbrook, Pa.) of the women's sprint medley team ran 3:49.19 to finish third in the Championship of America section.

William Barr (Urbana, Ohio) won the college men's discus throw with a toss of 182-10, throwing just short of lifetime-best 183-6. Barr is the sixth Penn Stater to earn the title at Penn Relays, following former champion Joe Kovacs (2012). Additionally, Marlene Ricketts (Old Westbury, N.Y.) recorded a ninth place finish 12.23m (40-1.5) in the women's triple jump in the college division.

Dylan Bilka (Seven Fields, Pa.) tabbed a runner-up position in the eastern division of the pole vault with 16-2.75 while Rob Cardina (Lancaster, Pa.) posted a Top 5 mark in the eastern division high jump with a leap of 6-6.75, earning fourth-place.

Various Penn State contingents advanced through the preliminary heats in which they will compete for the Championship of America title on Saturday. The 4x200 women's quartet of Dynasty McGee, Mahagony Jones, Megan Osborne (Chillicothe, Ohio) and Kiah Seymour will compete in the championship final after notching fifth-place with 1:34.76. Additionally, Evonne Britton (El Paso, Texas) crossed the line at 13.30, earning a spot in the 100m hurdles Championship of America scheduled for Saturday.

The men's 4x400 foursome of Bernard Bennett-Green, Brandon Bennett-Green (Philadelphia, Pa.), Alex Shisler (State College, Pa.) and Aaron Nadolsky (Altoona, Pa.) will advance to the IC4A final after a 3:08.57 finish for eighth-place.
