ROSEMONT, Ill. - Nittany Lion men's hockey forward David Glen (Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta) and women's golf standout Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) were among 24 honorees named Big Ten Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners for the 2013-14 academic year, the conference office announced.
The 24 honorees were chosen from a group of more than 300 student-athletes honored throughout the academic year who had displayed positive sportsmanship.
One member of each varsity sports team on every campus was chosen by his or her institution as a Sportsmanship Award honoree, and two Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners were then selected from each institution. All of the Sportsmanship Award winners have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, these honorees must be in good academic standing and must have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
An assistant captain, Glen collected nine points (3g, 6a) in 2013-14 but saved his most impactful contribution for off the ice. The Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, native missed games against Boston College (Jan. 25) and Ohio State (Jan. 31, Feb. 1) after undergoing a bone marrow donation procedure. Glen learned he was a bone marrow match through Be The Match, a National Bone Marrow Donation Program.
The rising junior participated in the Be The Match-facilitated Match4Kim Drive, which was held in support of Penn State men's lacrosse player's Drew Roper's mother on campus November 2012. The forward began the five-day peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) donation process late January at Geisinger-Bloomsburg (Pa.) Hospital.

A Bethany Beach, Delaware, native, Vosters recently concluded a standout career at Penn State with an appearance in the NCAA East Regional at the Southwood Golf Course. Posting her lowest score of the event on the final day of competition (71), she finished tied for 36th among a competitive pool of more than 125 golfers. Overall, she recorded a 220 (74-75-71) to finish four strokes over par.
Vosters registered her lowest score of the 2013-14 season at the Briar's Creek Invitational this spring, turning in a three-day score of 215 (72-75-68) to finish one under par and claim her first career individual title. The 2014 team captain concluded her career with four top-five finishes as well as three top-10 performances, posting a career average of 76.06.
Earlier this season, Vosters was honored as Penn State women's golf Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner, marking the second season that she has claimed the honor as a Nittany Lion. She also earned back-to-back NGCA All-American Scholar honors from 2010-12.
