UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - For the second-consecutive week, Penn State redshirt senior goalkeeper Kylie Licata (Mountain Top, Pa.) earned Big Ten Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday.
Licata has now been recognized three times in her career and was impressive in the cage over the weekend. First, she made a career-high 14 saves at No. 3 UConn (Sept. 6), five more than her previous personal-best. Licata faced 15 shots on goal and 26 total shots against the Huskies and kept the match close, giving up just one goal in the 1-0 overtime loss. At Quinnipiac (Sept. 7), she held the Bobcats scoreless for her second shutout of the season.
The redshirt senior was also named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 2 after making nine saves vs. No. 9 Old Dominion and shutting out then-No. 6 Virginia.
Penn State is back in action at home on Friday, Sept. 12, taking on Princeton at 6 p.m. The Nittany Lions also host Lafayette on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m.
