UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania - The Penn State women's soccer team placed three each on the TopDrawerSoccer Women's Freshman Top 100 and Women's National Top 100 lists.
The Blue and White (13-2, 8-1 Big Ten), which had the second-best 2014 recruiting class according to TopDrawerSoccer, were the only team to have three players in the top-20. Emily Ogle (Strongsville, Ohio) sits second, Frannie Crouse (Greensburg, Pennsylvania) is at fourth and Maddie Elliston (Omaha, Nebraska) is in the sixth spot. Elizabeth Ball (Richmond, Virginia) joins Ogle, Crouse and Elliston on the list, ranked 63rd.
The four first-year Nittany Lions are major contributors to this year's squad, starting all 15 games. Crouse's seven goals and 32 shots lead Penn State and Ogle has recorded eight points in 1,135 minutes on the pitch. In the back, Elliston's 1,300 minutes are second on the team and Ball has logged 1,074 minutes.
Three Nittany Lions were also named to the Women's National Top 100 midseason update, a ranking of the top sophomores, juniors and seniors in NCAA women's soccer. Senior Whitney Church (Ashburn, Virginia) is No. 37, while juniors Mallory Weber (Novi, Michigan) and Raquel Rodriguez (San Jose, Costa Rica) are 43rd and 87th, respectively. Church has logged a team-high 1,307 minutes, Weber leads Penn State with 16 points and Rodriguez has scored five goals, taking 28 shots.
Penn State travels to Michigan State on Oct. 19 to play the Spartans at 1 p.m.
