SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Penn State women's hockey team earned a 2-2 tie against Union on Saturday, lengthening the Nittany Lions' unbeaten streak to three games. Penn State (2-2-2) went 1-0-1 in its two-game set against the Dutchwomen after a 4-1 win Friday night.

Ten minutes into the game, Union (1-4-1) opened scoring with a goal from Rebecca Babiak.

Penn State knotted the score at 1-1 1:44 into the second period after a goal mouth. Laura Bowman (Minnetonka, Minnesota) took an initial shot from the farside post. Amy Petersen (Minnetonka, Minnesota) then scooped up the rebound, took it behind the net and backhanded it in to put Penn State on the board. The tally was Petersen's third in as many games.

However, Union regained its lead nearing the end of the second stanza. With 3:15 remaining in the second period, Jordin Pardoski (Rochester Hills, Michigan) was issued two separate penalties for hooking and checking, forcing the captain to sit four minutes. One minute and 20 seconds into the man advantage, the Dutchwomen made the score 2-1 with a slapshot from the blue line.

The Nittany Lions responded just three minutes into the third period with a power play goal of their own. Haley Welch was issued a minor penalty for holding and a minute into the power play, Kelly Seward (Williamsville, New York) tied the game at 2-2. Her defensive partner Bella Sutton (Shoreview, Minnesota) fed her the puck and the sophomore took a shot from the high slot that whizzed past Shenae Lundberg (1-4-1), tying the score at 2-2.

In overtime, Penn State took two shots to Union's one, but neither team was able to break away for the final 2-2 score.

In the game, the Blue and White took a season-high 37 shots, 18 of which came in the second period. Bowman led the team with seven shots.

Hannah Ehresmann's (Minnetonka, Minnesota) record moved to 1-0-2 following the tie after she made 20 saves.

Penn State returns to Pegula Ice Arena on Sun., Oct. 26, for a 7 p.m. game against Princeton.
