Renewal of Penn State-Maryland Series Set For Noon Kick on ESPN2

Oct. 26, 2014

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State's first home game in 22 years against old rival and new Big Ten Conference colleague Maryland is set for a 12 p.m. kickoff in Beaver Stadium.

Coach James Franklin's Nittany Lions will host the Terrapins on Nov. 1 for the first time since 1992. The clash will air on ESPN2, the Penn State Sports Network and GoPSUsports.com. All-University Day and THON Day will be celebrated during the game with Maryland.

Penn State and Maryland will be meeting for the 38th time, but the first time as Big Ten East Division rivals. The teams, who will play annually starting this year, first met in 1917 and last played in 1993 in College Park. From 1960-93, the Nittany Lions and Terps played every year except 1976, '81 and '83. In 2015, Penn State and Maryland will meet on Oct. 24 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

In his first season as Penn State head coach, Franklin was a member of the Maryland coaching staff from 2000-04 and 2008-10 before becoming head coach at Vanderbilt for the 2011 season. He was named the Nittany Lions' 16th head football coach on January 11, 2014.

Penn State will be making its fifth appearance of the season on an ESPN network. Every Penn State football game has been televised the past 10 seasons and 247 of the last 249 contests overall have been on TV. All Penn State football and men's and women's basketball games air on the Penn State Sports Network and www.GoPSUsports.com.

The kick times and TV for Penn State's remaining games will be determined and announced either six or 12 days prior to each contest.

Tickets are available for Penn State's final three home games of the season: Nov. 1 vs. Maryland (All-University Day and THON Day); Nov. 15 vs. Temple (Military Appreciation Day/Seats For Soldiers) and the Nov. 29 Senior Day clash with Michigan State. The kick times for the last two home games are to be determined.
