Penn State Wraps Up Day Two at Hokie Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- With two days of tennis in the books, the Penn State women's tennis team continued to build off of the momentum from Friday. Victoria Kisialeva (Toronto, Canada) advanced to the Singles Flight A finals after defeating Natalie Sayer of Radford 6-4, 7-5 and her teammate Kim Surin (Montreal, Canada) 7-6 (7-3), 6-4. Kisialeva will battle Cerezo-Codina of Virginia Tech in the finals after Cerezo-Codina defeated Dasha Sapogova in the quarterfinals 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-2. In the Singles Flight B, Devan McCluskey (Phoenix, Ariz.) came back and advanced to the semis after dropping the first set to Rachel Morales of Marshall 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Katia Blik (Moscow, Russia) was upended by Sansitha Nandakumar of Virginia Tech 6-4, 6-1.

Taylor Shukow (Boca Raton, Fla.) advanced to the Singles Flight C semifinals after slipping by Ludivine Burguiere of VCU 6-2, 7-5. Liyin Xu (Chengdu, China) defeated Mariana Silva of Virginia Tech 6-4, 6-2 as she advanced to the semifinals to battle Evangeline Crist of Liberty.

In the Doubles Flight A, the duo of Blik/Sapogova advanced to the finals after defeating Kvitashvilli/Barscheheuskaya of VCU 8-6. They will take on the team of Mita/Stoica of Virginia Tech after they defeated Surin/McCluskey 8-7(4). Surin/McCluskey will battle the duo from VCU in the third place match. In the Doubles Flight B consolation round, the team of Shukow/Mengel advanced to the finals after defeating Tonjann/Dolashvilli of UMBC 8-7(4). In the Doubles Flight C consolation match, the duo of Rivers/Xu advanced to the semifinals after defeating Erickson/Graham of Wofford 8-2. They will play Savic/Mabe of Morehead State and Liberty.

"We had a lot of nice wins today," said head coach Chris Cagle. "I am very happy overall with the way the team played today. I am very excited for the possibility to have some girls take some titles."
