Penn State to Take on Boston College in NCAA Tournament

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State field hockey team will travel to Syracuse, New York, to take on Boston College in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 15. The Nittany Lions have qualified for the NCAA Tournament in each of the last five seasons.

The Nittany Lions and the Eagles will meet for just the second time in program history, with Penn State picking up a 2-0 win in 2000. Boston College holds a 13-6 record this season and has won five of its last six games, most recently falling to Syracuse in the first round of the ACC Tournament. The Eagles were ranked No. 9 in the most recent NFHCA Poll on Nov. 4.

Penn State has qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 30 of the possible 33 seasons, starting in 1982. The Nittany Lions' 30 appearances ranks third nationally in NCAA Tournament berths. Penn State's game against Boston College will mark its 57th all-time tournament game, the fourth-most by any team in NCAA history.

Head coach Charlene Morett-Curtiss' last coaching job was at Boston College from 1984-86. There, she coached the Eagles to a 34-16-8 record in three seasons.

Morett-Curtiss has now led the Nittany Lions to NCAA Tournament action in 25 of her 28 seasons at the helm, reaching the finals in 2002 and 2007.

The winner of the game will take on winner of host Syracuse and Boston University on Sunday, Nov. 16 for a chance to go to the Final Four in Maryland on Nov. 21.
