UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State wrestler Bo Nickal (Allen, Texas) went a perfect 5-0 at the Binghamton Open on Sunday, claiming his second straight open tournament title. Nickal led a contingent of six Nittany Lions competing, all unattached, at the event.
Nickal's 5-0 mark at 174 included one technical fall and one pin. Nickal, who is red-shirting and wrestling unattached, is 9-0 on the year with two tourney titles to his credit. Four other true freshmen competed at the event as well. Anthony Cassar (Rocky Hill, N.J.) went 3-2 at 197 and Nicholas Weldon (Birmingham, Ala.) went 2-2 with a major and a pin at 184. Jordan Pagano (Oradell, N.J.) posted a 3-2 mark with a major and a pin at 165. Devon Van Cura (Washington, N.C.) picked up a win at 174 and sophomore Caleb Livingston (Drexel Hill, Pa.) grabbed a victory at 165.
Penn State continues dual meet action in two weeks, visiting Pittsburgh on Friday, Nov. 21, for a 7 p.m. dual wrestled at Pitt's Peterson Events Center. Penn State then treks to Clarion on Saturday, Nov. 22, for a 7 p.m. dual as well. A limited number of SRO tickets are available for select Penn State Rec Hall dual meets, although the SROs for the Lehigh dual are sold out. For ticket inquiries, call 1-800-NITTANY.
