ROCHESTER, N.Y.; Nov. 14, 2014 - The Penn State women's hockey team couldn't overcome a staunch RIT defense and fell to the Tigers, 3-0, on Friday night.

The Nittany Lions (5-5-3, 0-2-1 CHA) opened the game on a tear, outshooting the RIT (6-4-3, 1-1-1 CHA) 10-6 in the first 16 minutes of the first period and holding the Tigers to just five shots on goal. But with nearly three-and-a-half minutes left in the frame, RIT netted the gamewinner, thanks to the team's leading point-getter, Mackenzie Stone.

The Tigers doubled their lead 4:35 into the second off of a rebound during a scramble in front of the net.

A breakaway down the left wing resulted in RIT's final goal of the game with just under two minutes left in regulation for the 3-0 Penn State loss.

Celine Whitlinger (Garden Grove, California) (3-4-0) made 28 saves, including 13 in the third period. Penn State put 22 shots on net but Ali Binnington stopped them all for her fifth win of the year.

The Nittany Lions and Tigers face off again tomorrow at 3 p.m.
