UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - Three players scored in double figures for the Penn State Lady Lions (1-2), but it wouldn't be enough as the squad suffered a 75-70 loss to Seton Hall (2-1) at the Bryce Jordan Center Saturday night to conclude the Preseason WNIT. The Lady Lions trailed by eight with 1:09 remaining in the game and had a chance to tie the game on a Candice Agee (Victorville, Calif.) free throw with 11 seconds to go, but couldn't complete the comeback as the free throw caromed off the rim and was pulled in by the Pirates. Seton Hall sealed the win with four freebies in the final 11 seconds for the final margin.

Agee was efficient on the way to a career-high 21 points in just 17 minutes of action. Agee, who was 9-for-15 from the field, also had five rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Sophomore Sierra Moore (Hanover, Pa.) notched her first career double-double with career highs of 14 points and 10 rebounds. She also dished out five assists and blocked a shot.

Freshman Lindsey Spann (Laurel, Md.) tallied double figures for the third consecutive game, finishing with 12 points with three steals on the evening. Sophomore Kaliyah Mitchell (Stone Mountain, Ga.) tied her personal best with 10 boards to go along with eight points.

Seton Hall's Ka-Deidre Simmons led all scorers with 28 points.

Seton Hall jumped out to an early 9-0 lead in the first 2:14 of the game. Penn State then went on a streak of its own, scoring five straight, including a three-pointer from Spann and two free throws from Mitchell to cut the lead to 9-5 at the 16:58 mark in the opening half.

The Pirates tallied the next three before a jumper from Moore made the score 12-7 with 14:19 left in the half. Hampered by fouls and turnovers in the following minutes, Penn State allowed Seton Hall to stretch its lead to 21-7 at the 10:28 mark with the help of nine points by Daisha Simmons and five from Ka-Deidre Simmons.

Sophomore Peyton Whitted (Suwanee, Ga.) scored the next four points in the game before a breakaway layup by Moore trimmed the lead to eight (23-15). After a bucket from the Pirates, Agee followed with six straight points of her own to move Penn State within four (23-19) with 6:16 left in the first.

Moore and Agee continued the scoring for the Lady Lions, combining for the next six, and Penn State kept the game within four points, 29-25. Sophomore Jenny DeGraaf (Springboro, Ohio) cut the lead to two, following her own miss and putting back the rebound to make it 29-27 with 2:52 to go before the break. However, the Pirates posted eight of the next 10 points and took a 37-29 lead into the break.

The Lady Lions came out strong in the second half with a 7-0 run, which included a layup by Agee and a three-pointer and a layup from Spann to get within one (37-36) with 17:06 to go.

Minutes later, Penn State took its first lead, 40-39, following a score from Moore and a layup from DeGraaf with 15:01 on the clock. Seton Hall fired back, scoring the next three, before Moore matched her career-high with a fastbreak layup to knot the game at 42 at the 12:39 mark.

After the Pirates responded with a three-pointer, the Lady Lions regained the lead following two layups by Agee. The squads then alternated buckets, but the Pirates would hold onto the lead and stretched their advantage to 57-52, forcing a Penn State timeout with 6:18 to go.

With 4:14 to go, the Lady Lions were forced to call another timeout as the Pirates pushed their lead to 64-56. A jumper by DeGraaf and a fastbreak bucket from Spann cut the deficit to 64-60 coming out of the timeout. However, Seton Hall reeled off a 6-2 run to take an eight-point lead (70-62) with 1:09 remaining.

Despite trailing by eight, the Lady Lions fought back as Agee capitalized on a strong layup and the foul with 16 seconds remaining to cut the lead to 71-68. Agee's free throw attempt missed, but the rebound went out of bounds off of Seton Hall and Penn State regained possession with 14.2 seconds on the clock.

Following the inbounds, DeGraaf dished the ball to Agee in the paint, who again finished strong on the layup after getting fouled to get within one. Agee's free throw attempt missed and the Pirates snagged the rebound. Seton Hall converted on all four of its free throw attempts in the final moments to secure the 75-70 win.
