Penn State Women Knock Out Competition as Garret Open Continues

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's fencing team competed in day one of the 42nd annual Penn State Garret Open. The women saw great success throughout the day including two top-three finishes.

Sophomore Teodora Kakhiani (Tbilisi, Georgia) sealed a first place finish for the Nittany Lions in her event of women's saber this afternoon.

In women's foil, junior team captain, Clarisse Luminet (Lyon, France) locked in the number 3 spot.

Other notable finishes on the day include sophomore Jessie Radanovich (Fresno, Calif.) finishing 9th in women's epee, senior Kane Gladnick (Wynnewood, Pa.) finishing 12th in women's foil, and freshman Kathryn Charpin (Setauket, N.Y.) finishing 17th in women's saber.

The Garret Open resumes tomorrow with the men's competition at White Building beginning at 8 a.m. Results from tomorrow's men's competition will be posted on GoPSUsports.com at the conclusion of each day's action.
