COLLEGE STATION, Texas; Nov. 29, 2014 - The No. 2-seeded Penn State women's soccer team's run in the NCAA Tournament ended in College Station, Texas, as the Nittany Lions fell to top-seeded Texas A&M 2-1 in the Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday.

The Nittany Lions finish the 2014 campaign with a 20-4 record after winning its 16th Big Ten title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for the 10th time in program history.

Texas A&M's (22-2-2) Allie Bailey scored the first goal of the match in the fifth minute. She tucked it past the inside left post from the top of the six-yard box for the early 1-0 lead.

The equalizer came for Penn State in the 53rd minute. Frannie Crouse (Greensburg, Pa.) dropped a pass to Salina Williford (Wayne, Pa.) at the centerline. Williford then dribbled to the top of the 18-yard box and struck it in to upper left corner to tie the match, 1-1.

But five-and-a-half minutes later, the Aggies regained the lead. Bailey kicked the ball from the top of the six-yard box but the ball deflected off of a Penn State defender and in for the 2-1 score.

In the 74th minute, Penn State was almost able to tie it up. Mallory Weber (Novi, Mich.) took a shot from the top right corner of the six-yard box, which forced Jordan Day off of the line to make the save. Haleigh Echard (Lebanon, Pa.) then picked up the rebound from the opposite post but the shot was blocked by an Aggie defender.

Penn State held a 20-15 shot advantage in the match, led by Echard and Williford, who each took four shots. Britt Eckerstrom (Germantown, Md.) made five saves, four of which came in the first half, and the Nittany Lions put nine shots on goal.
