HARTFORD, Conn. - The Penn State Lady Lions (2-7) rallied late in the second half, but were unable to overcome the early deficit in a 62-57 loss at Hartford Hawks (4-6) Wednesday. Junior Candice Agee (Silverado, Calif.) was 8-for-13 from the field en route to 20 points for her second career 20-point game. Agee also pulled in eight rebounds in the game.

Sophomore Sierra Moore (Hanover, Pa.) also reached double figures with 10 points to along five assists and two steals. Sophomore Kaliyah Mitchell (Stone Mountain, Ga.) added nine points and seven rebounds, while freshman Lindsey Spann (Laurel, Md.) had five points with four assists and four rebounds. Spann's streak of eight consecutive games with double figures to start her college career was snapped.

Hartford jumped out to a 10-2 lead as the Lady Lions struggled with six turnovers early in the contest. Agee scored the game's next three points to close the gap to five (10-5) with less than 12 minutes left. Penn State struggled to find its offensive rhythm the rest of the way as Hartford outscored the Lady Lions, 28-13, to take a 20-point lead at the half (38-18).

The squads came out exchanging scores to start the second half with the Hawks scoring eight of the first 12 points to extend their lead to 46-22 with 17 minutes remaining. From there the Lady Lions scored the next six points thanks to a pair of layups by Agee and a layup by Peyton Whitted (Suwanee, Ga.) on the feed from Agee to cut it to 46-28 with 15:33 left.

The Hawks wrapped a pair of three-pointers around another Agee score to push the lead back to 52-30 with 14:28 remaining. The Lady Lions showed some life as they clicked off a 14-3 run to make it an 11-point game (55-44) with 5:39 to play. Agee was a force in the run with seven points, including a three-point play. Mitchell added four points, while Moore had two tallies and Spann had one.

After a three-pointer by Deanna Mayza, Mitchell converted on a layup and Whitted made both free throw attempts to make it a 10-point game (58-48) with 3:22 on the clock. Hartford made one of two free throw attempts to push the lead back to 11 with 2:59 left. After a couple of empty possessions for both sides, Agee scored and Moore made a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to seven points (59-52) with 53 seconds left.

Mayza made a pair of free throws to push the lead back to nine, but Agee responded with a pair of free throws of her own to secure her second career 20-point game. After a steal by Moore, Mitchell hit a three-pointer to make it a four-point game (61-57) with 11.7 seconds to play. The Hawks clinched the win with Mary Pattison going 1-for-2 from the free throw line with 10.9 seconds left. Penn State was unable to get a shot off in the final seconds
