UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The Penn State Lady Lions (3-8, 0-0) open Big Ten play by visiting #23/20 Iowa (9-2, 0-0) on Sunday at 3 p.m. (ET). The game is available on BTN Plus for a fee. Penn State has won its last three Big Ten road openers, including an 87-71 victory at Iowa to start Big Ten play last season.

    LAST TIME OUT

  • Regulation wasn't enough for the Lady Lions on Dec. 21 against USF, as the Bulls claimed a 90-87 overtime victory inside the Bryce Jordan Center.
  • The second half and overtime featured 16 ties and 16 lead changes, with the final lead change coming on a pair of Alisia Jenkins free throws with 41 seconds left to play to give USF the victory.
  • Sophomore Lindsey Spann netted a career-high 28 points, marking the highest scoring game for a Penn State player since Ariel Edwards poured in 29 points versus Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament on March 7, 2014.
  • A pair of double-doubles highlighted the afternoon for Penn State with Candice Agee and Sierra Moore each accomplishing the feat. It was the first career double-double for Agee, who scored 21 points and grabbed 11 boards, while Moore earned her second double-double with a 17-point, 10-rebound performance.

    SCOUTING IOWA

  • The Hawkeyes are 9-2 on the season and are ranked 23rd in this week's Associated Press Poll and 20th in the USA Today Sports Coaches' Poll.
  • Iowa leads the Big Ten in both three-point field goals made (8.6) and three-point field goal percentage (.419).
  • Ally Disterhoft leads the potent Iowa offense with a 15.5 scoring average to pace five players averaging double figures.
  • Melissa Dixon accounts fro 14.6 points per game with a team-best 42 three-pointers and a 47.7 percent effort from beyond the arc.
  • Dixon hit a school-record 10 three-pointers against Drake on Dec. 21.
  • Samantha Logic contributes 11.4 points and leads the team in rebounds (7.1), assists (6.3) and steals (2.0), while Bethany Doolittle (10.9) and Whitney Jennings (10.5) also account for double digits in the scoring column.

    ALL-TIME VERSUS THE HAWKEYES

  • The Lady Lions are 26-18 all-time against Iowa, but are just 9-11 in games played in Iowa City.
  • However, Penn State has won the last four games played at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
  • The Lady Lions have won seven of the last nine games against Iowa, but the Hawkeyes claimed a 73-70 win in the BJC last season.

    LAST TIME VERSUS IOWA

  • The Lady Lions dropped a 73-70 thriller to Iowa in the Bryce Jordan Center on Feb. 6.
  • The Lady Lions ran into a hot-shooting Hawkeye team, led by Ally Disterhoff, who turned in a career night with 24 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field. The loss snaps Penn State's six-game winning streak.
  • Senior guard Maggie Lucas led the team in scoring with 21 points to move into eighth place on the Big Ten's career scoring chart.
  • Senior center Talia East turned in one of her best performances in her Lady Lion career, as she scored a career-best 14 points and matched her season-best performance on the glass with 12 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season and second in her last three games.
  • The two other Lady Lions to eclipse the double digit mark were senior guard/forward Ariel Edwards (16 pts., 5 rebs., 4 assts.) and senior guard Dara Taylor (10 pts., 3 steals).

    B1G OPENERS

  • The Lady Lions are 13-9 in Big Ten Conference openers since joining the league in 1993.
  • Penn State is also 13-9 in Big Ten road openers since 1993.
  • The Lady Lions have won their last two Big Ten openers and three of their last four.
  • Penn State is 244-118 (.674) in Big Ten play, including a 40-8 (.833) mark in the last three seasons.

    AGEE HEATING UP

  • Junior center Candice Agee has been heating up as it gets colder outside.
  • In her last three games, Agee is averaging 20.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.3 blocks with a 69.4 percent effort from the field.
  • Agee has a pair of 20-point performances with 20 points at Hartford and 21 tallies versus USF.
  • She also posted her first career double-double against the Bulls with 21 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.

    ANOTHER SCORING MARK FOR SPANN

  • Freshman Lindsey Spann finished with a career-best 28 points against USF on Dec. 28.
  • Her performance tops her previous career high of 23 set against Rider on Dec. 14.
  • Spann's 28 points vs. USF are the most by a Penn State player since Ariel Edwards netted 29 points vs. Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament on March 7, 2014.
  • The 28 tallies are the most by a Penn State freshman since Maggie Lucas had 28 in the overtime loss at Boston College on Dec. 2, 2010.
  • Spann tied her career-high with 11 field goals made and set career-best marks in field goals attempted (22), along with free throws made (5) and attempted (9) against the Bulls.
  • Spann leads the team in double-digit performances and has now earned 10 or more points in 10 of her first 11 career games. She has netted 20 points in three of those contests.

    FORCE IN THE POST

  • Junior center Candice Agee has proven to be a force in the post this season.
  • In fact with four swats against USF on Dec. 21, Agee now has 24 blocks on the season, surpassing her career-best season total of 21 from 2013-14.
  • Agee ranks fourth in the Big Ten in blocked shots with a 2.2 per game average.

    DOUBLE DOUBLE-DOUBLES

  • Junior Candice Agee and sophomore Sierra Moore each recorded double-doubles in the overtime loss to USF on Dec. 21.
  • Agee posted her first career double-double with 21 points and 11 boards. She is the fifth different Lady Lion to accomplish the feat this season, joining Tori Waldner, Sierra Moore, Jenny DeGraaf and Kaliyah Mitchell.
  • Agee's 21 points equaled her career-high which came against Seton Hall on Nov. 22, and her 11 rebounds are a career best, surpassing her previous high of nine, which she accomplished four times previously.
  • Moore earned her second career double-double with a 17-point, 10-rebound performance against the Bulls.
  • Her previous double-double came earlier this season vs. Seton Hall (14 pts., 10 rebs.) on Nov. 22.
  • Moore moved past the 200-career point plateau with her 17-point effort against USF.
  • Moore equaled her career high in boards with 10, the last time she accomplished that feat was Nov. 22 versus Seton Hall.

    HARRIS' CAREER DAY

  • Playing in her first game this season, sophomore Alex Harris set career-highs in points (9), free throws made (3) and attempted (8), and minutes played (31).
  • She also tied her career-best marks in field goals made (3) and attempted (5), assists (2) and blocked shots (3).
  • Harris also pulled down eight rebounds to push her career total over the century mark.

    The 2014-15 Penn State Lady Lion Basketball season is presented by Kish Travel and Kish Insurance. The Lady Lions continue their two-game road trip to open Big Ten play with a trip to Michigan for a New Year's Day game before returning the Bryce Jordan Center to host Illinois on Sunday, Jan. 4 to meet Illinois at 2 p.m. for First Responders Day. The Michigan game will be on BTN Plus.

    Lady Lion Basketball single-game and season tickets are available by calling 1-800-NITTANY. Single-game tickets range from $10-17 for adults and seniors and $5-11 for youth (12 and younger). Season tickets are $105 for adults and $52 for youth (12 and under). Additionally, the Family Season Ticket package, which features two adult tickets and two youth tickets in the family section in section 114L, is $210. There is a $15 handling fee per order on season tickets.

    The PNC Flex Books are $120 and give fans 12 vouchers, 10 that can be redeemed in any combination for Nittany Lion and Lady Lion Basketball tickets throughout the year and two extra vouchers for the Nittany Lions' Coaches Vs. Cancer game and the Lady Lions' Pink Zone game. The Lady Lions also have a pair of mini-plans available this season with the B1G Deal and the Five for the 50th plans. The B1G Deal is a mini-plan that includes the nine Big Ten Conference home games. Tickets for the B1G Deal are $90 for adult sideline, $63 for youth sideline, $63 for adult baseline and $45 for youth baseline tickets. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Women's Athletics at Penn State, there is a Five for the 50th mini-plan. The plan features a ticket to the following games: South Florida (12/21), Illinois (1/4), Rutgers (1/10), Michigan State (2/11) and Ohio State (2/26). The package is $50 in honor of the 50th anniversary.
