UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 13 Penn State women's gymnastics team swept the individual event tiles and set season-highs on three of the four apparatus on their way to a 196.550-194.450 decision over Maryland in front of 2,385 fans on Saturday afternoon inside Rec Hall.

Freshman Briannah Tsang (Vancouver, British Columbia) wrote her name into the record books for the second time this season, claimed the individual titles on the balance beam and the floor exercise, and set a career-high for the third straight meet to win the all-around crown. Senior Krystal Welsh (Bowie, Md.) topped the field on the uneven bars and rookie Lauren Li (Plano, Texas) claimed the vault title for the Nittany Lions.

As a team, Penn State topped the 49.000-mark on all four apparatus and set a season-high on the uneven bars (49.100), balance beam (49.150) and floor exercise (49.150). Those marks enabled them to post their highest score thus far in 2015 at 196.550.

Tsang scored 9.825 or higher on all four events to come away with a career-best 39.500 score in the all-around to earn the Ann Carr Award for the first time in her career. Her score of 9.950 on the balance beam claimed the event title and is tied for ninth in school history. Last weekend, the freshman scored 9.950 on the vault to move into a tie for ninth in school history on that event, as well. She tied her career-high with a 9.850 on the uneven bars and finished off the competition with an event-winning and career-best score of 9.875 on the floor exercise to seal up her all-around title.

A pair of seniors claimed second and third in the all-around with Sidney Sanabria-Robles (Caguas, Puerto Rico) and Welsh claiming those two spots. Sanabria-Robles totaled 39.350 in the all-around and finished among the top-four on all four events. Welsh totaled a season-best score of 39.325 in the all-around and won the uneven bars title with a career-best score of 9.900. Welsh also finished second on the floor exercise with a tally of 9.850.

The home rotation treated the Nittany Lions well on Saturday, as they opened the meet with a 49.150 on the vault. Li set the tone for the meet with the first performance for Penn State on the vault. The freshman logged a 9.875, which lasted the day as the top score. Sanabria-Robles' 9.850 tied for second on the event. Freshman Oni Timothy (Rochester, N.Y.) set a personal-best with a 9.800 on the event to help Penn State take six of the top seven spots. Maryland placed three gymnasts in the top-five on the uneven bars during their first rotation to score 48.850.

Welsh anchored the uneven bars lineup with a personal best score of 9.900 to win the event title, while Tsang's 9.850 was a career-best and brought home the second spot. Sanabria-Robles (9.825) tied for third on the apparatus and Alex Witt (Odessa, Fla.; 9.800) sat tied for fifth. During the second rotation, the Terrapins posted their highest team score with a 49.000 on the vault.

The third rotation saw Penn State extend their lead with a 49.150 on the balance beam, as Maryland logged a 48.700 on the floor exercise. Along with Tsang's even-winning 9.950, Sanabria-Robles grabbed a runner-up finish with a 9.875. Nicole Medvitz (Paramus, N.J.) finished tied for third at 9.850 and Welsh finished fifth with a mark of 9.775.

The final rotation saw Penn State hit on all six of their floor exercise routines and come away with a season-high 49.150 team score. Tsang and Welsh were the final two competitors on the evening and posted the two highest scores on the event. Tsang's 9.875 is a career-best and won the event title, while Welsh's 9.850 finished second. Emma Sibson (Allen, Texas) finished third with a 9.825, while Li, Sanabria-Robles and Timothy all tied for fourth with scores of 9.800. The 9.800 is a career-best for Timothy and ties Li's career-high. Maryland finished the night on balance beam with a 47.900.

Penn State will hit the road for its next meet, traveling to Illinois for a 5 p.m. start on Jan. 31. They return home for a two straight meets; hosting Michigan State on Feb. 7 and Ohio State on Feb. 14 at Rec Hall.
