UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Select members of the Penn State women's swimming and diving team will race in the nearby Bison Invite, hosted by Bucknell University, Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Less than half of the team is expected participate in the event, as the majority have chosen to rest up for the upcoming Big Ten Championships. However, the meet will give those that elect to go a chance to focus on individual goals in a racing environment.

The Nittany Lions are coming off a convincing win over Navy, 174-115, to conclude the dual season at 10-1. Like this weekend's event, next weekend's Virginia Tech Invitational will serve as an individual tune-up opportunity.

THE EVENT
The Bison Invitational is a one-day, unscored meet set to start at 10:30 a.m. in Kinney Natatorium on the campus of Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. It will consist of two sessions with at least a 30-minute break in between. Student-athletes from a total of nine different schools are expected to compete, including American, Lafayette, Loyola, Navy, Seton Hall, Shippensburg and Towson. Live results will be available via BucknellBison.com.

RANKINGS
The women's squad is currently ranked No. 17 in the most recent CSCAA Poll, released on Jan. 15, 2015. Big Ten foes Michigan (9th), Minnesota (11th), Indiana (14th), Iowa (21st) and Wisconsin (24th) are also ranked in the top 25, while Purdue is receiving votes.

LAST TIME OUT
The Blue and White gave its seniors a proper send-off from McCoy Natatorium, posting the top performances in 15 out of 16 events en route to a 174-115 victory over Navy Saturday in the Nittany Lions' home finale. Ten different Lions won individual events, with senior Megan Siverling (Chester Springs, Pa.), junior Alyson Ackman (Montreal, Quebec) and sophomore Mackenzie Cornell (Germantown, Md.) winning two each.

NEXT UP
Individuals can elect to compete in the Virginia Tech Invitational Feb. 7-8, but the next team event will be the Big Ten Championships, Feb. 18-21, hosted by Ohio State. Penn State finished third at last season's Big Ten Championship hosted by Minnesota.
